The half Chinese, half Hungarian Flamenco guitarist/Composer was born in Germany. He migrated to the United States and settled in the quiet Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, he played in Hotels and Restaurants until a small time New Age record label by the name of Higher Octave Music offered him a recording contract.
Nouveau Flamenco (New Flamenco), Ottmar Liebert's debut album, was a tremendous success upon its release in 1990. It ultimately went Platinum, and paved the way for Liebert's popularity in both the New Age and the mainstream markets.
His music, almost overnight, dominated the radio waves, having every new listener asking the question, "Who is that?!!"
