Imami and her grandfather, Mirza Aghajan Imami, were skilled craftsmen renowned for their expertise in plant sculpture, carving, and the creation of containers and mirror boxes. Zinat al-Sadat began her artistic journey at the age of eighteen, starting with learning calligraphy in the Safavid style and floral and bird motifs in the Qajar style under the guidance of her father. Over several years, she continued this apprenticeship with her father, then delved into the art of engraving and embossing in the Safavid style under the tutelage of the late master Hussein Khatai, who had been one of her father's disciples. She also acquired the skill of metalworking from the late master Agha Taqi Kalbasi, who, like her father, had been a student of her grandfather.

Continuing her artistic path, she drew inspiration from notable mentors such as Hussein Khatai, a prominent disciple of her father. Zinat al-Sadat passionately mastered the renowned arts of engraving and embossing. Her extraordinary motivation led her to seize the first opportunity to travel to Tehran, aspiring to benefit from the teachings of Master Hussein Behzad. With the grace of the master, who, according to her, accepted her as a student solely due to his admiration for the late Haj Mirza Agha Imami, Zinat al-Sadat embarked on another step in the realms of art.
